Puerto Rico

The Puerto Rican winter league kicked off this week, and the HomeSide is represented here, also. Quintin Berry is playing for Caguas, and has 2 hits and 2 walks in the first 2 games. Also playing for the Criollos is Andy Baldwin, who spent 2009 in Tacoma in the Mariner's system. Andy started game 2 for Caguas and went 3 innings, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits and 3 walks in Caguas' 6-3 loss to Carolina.

Darren Byrd made his first start for Mayaguez on Friday, and was roughed up by Arecibo. Byrd gave up 5 runs on 4 hits and 3 walks in just 2 innings of work.
