In Philadelphia Friday night, the Phillies returned home from their trip and picked up a big 5-4 win over the first place Braves. Ryan Howard and Domonic Brown had a hit each, with Ryan driving in his 43rd run of the year. Antonio Bastardo threw a 1-2-3 8th inning for his 12th hold.
The Indians have recalled Carlos Carrasco to pitch today against Detroit.
I was in Trenton last night, and was treated to Kelly Dugan's AA debut. Dugan was promoted earlier in the day from Clearwater. Kelly was 1 for 4 on the night, as the Thunder scored 8 runs in the first 3 innings en route to an 8-0 win over the Fightin Phils. Brody Colvin was the victim of the bombing, but Colby Shreve and Hector Neris threw scoreless relief. Jim Murphy and Maikel Franco had 2 hits each for Reading.
In Clearwater, Chris Serritella's second hit of the game in the bottom of the 11th inning led to the winning run for the Threshers and a 2-1 win over Tampa. Steven Inch recorded his first win since moving up from Lakewood last week.......In Greensboro, Angelo Mora had 4 hits, and Larry Greene, Carlos Tocci, Chace Numata and Mitch Walding all had 2 hits, but Lakewood dropped a 6-5 decision when the Grasshoppers scored a pair of runs inh the bottom of the 9th. Jeb Stefan pitched well, going 6 strong innings and allowing just 3 runs, 2 earned, on only 3 hits and NO walks.
In Scranton, Mike Zagurski was in the right place at the right time, picking up his 2nd win since joining the RailRiders, when Scranton scored in the bottom of the 9th to beat Buffalo, 3-2. Mike is 4-1, 2.87 in AAA this year.............In Colorado Springs, Greg Golson had 2 hits, a walk, stole a base, and drove in 2 runs for the SkySox in their 5-0 win over Reno............In Fresno, Michael Taylor had 2 hits, 2 walks, drove in 2 runs and scored 2 more...o yeah, he stole home also- but the River Cats dropped an 8-7 game to the Grizzlies.
In a move I overlooked last week, the Texas Rangers have dropped Lisalverto Bonilla from AAA-Round Rock to AA-Frisco.
