Monday's notes

In Clearwater on Monday, the Detroit Tigers rocked the Phillies, 10-1.  The Phillies managed just 5 hits, Freddy Galvis had a single in his only at bat, and Ryan Howard had 2 for 3 and drove in the Phils lone run.  Darin Ruf (0 for 2), Carlos Ruiz (0 for 3) and Domonic Brown (0 for 1) also saw action. On the mound, Tyler Cloyd made his season debut with 2 scoreless innings, and Mike Stutes, looking to rebound from an injury-plagued 2012, worked an inning and gave up 2 runs on 2 walks and 1 hit.

In Dunedin, Tyson Brummett made his debut for the Blue Jays, throwing a scoreless inning and striking out 2 in the Jays' 4-2 loss to Boston.........In Jupiter, Josh Zeid threw an inning for the Astros, giving up a run on 2 hits to the Cardinals in St. Louis' 10-2 win.  Jonathan Villar was 0 for 2 for Houston.............Vance Worley made his debut for the Twins, and threw 2 scoreless innings (2 hits, 1 K) in Minnesota's 5-4 win over the Pirates.........In Port St. Lucie, Travis d'Arnaud got his first hit for the Mets, going 1 for 2, a line drive single on a 3-2 pitch after being down in the count 1-2.  New York dropped a 6-4 game to Washington.

In Glendale, Brian Schlitter threw an inning for the Cubs, allowing a run on 3 hits and a walk in the Cubs' 7-6 loss to the Dodgers.........In Pheonix, the Indians stayed undefeated with a 14-10win over Oakland.  Michael Bourn and Lou Marson each had a walk and a run scored for the Tribe............In Goodyear, the Reds beat the Brewers, 5-2.  Darren Byrd walked the first 3 hitters he faced, including Jason Donald, before getting a ground ball and a strike out. Donald had 2 walks and a stolen base on the day for Cincinatti.
