Welcome, my fellow HomeSiders, to another baseball season.
The Phillies have optioned Mike Stutes back to Lehigh Valley. There are 9 former BlueClaws on the Ironpigs roster to open the season. 3 in the bullpen- Stutes, Justin De Fratus and Jake Diekman, 3 in the rotation- Tyler Cloyd, Jonathan Pettibone, and BJ Rosenberg, and 3 outfielders- Leandro Castro, Darin Ruf, and Steve Susdorf.
As is usually the case, Reading has the most- 16 by my count. Starters Jesse Biddle, Austin Wright, David Buchanan, and Brody Colvin comprise 4/5th of the rotation and relievers Tyler Knigge, Jay Johnson, Hector Neris and Juan Sosa will start in the pen for the Fightin' Phils. They actually changed the name to that- the Reading Fightin' Phils!! Cameron Rupp and Sebastian Valle will share the catching. Troy Hanzawa, Edgar Duran and Jim Murphy will play the infield, and Zack Collier, Anthony Hewitt, and Derrick Mitchell will patrol the outfield grounds in Baseballtown.
The name missing here is Mike Spidale. Released or retired, I am not sure yet.
The Clearwater Threshers have not posted a roster, yet, but they are always last.
Today @ 4:00, Vance Worley will make his debut for the Twins against the Tigers, and @ 7:00- Cole Hamels will face the Braves.
