Pirates take rubber game from Phils

In Philadelphia Thursday, the Pittsburgh Pirates won the rubber game of their series with the Phillies, 6-4, marking the first time since the Phillies moved into Citizens Bank Parkin 2004.  Domonic Brown had 2 doubles, and a sacrifice fly to knock in 2 runs and Ryan Howard also had 2 hits and 2 RBI.........In St Paul, Vance Worley remains winless so far.  Vance (0-3, 6.38) gave up 2 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks, leaving the game after 5 innings of work in Minnesota's 2-1 loss to Texas.



In a wild game in Oklahoma City, the New Orleans Zephyrs scored 5 in the first en route to a 6-0 lead, but the RedHawks tied it with 5 in the bottom of the 9th.  Then, after both teams scored twice in the 13th, New Orleans won it 10-8 with 2 more in the 15th!  Jonathan Villar was 2 for 8 in the game, driving in the tying run in the bottom of the 9th, and the 2 tying runs in the bottom of the 13th.  Jarred Cosart was the starter, and gave up 6 runs, including the 5 in the 1st inning, on 5 hits and 4 walks, and Josh Zeid tossed a scoreless inning, dropping his ERA to 1.08.


In Scranton, Carlos Carrasco pitched 4.2 more inning of shut out ball, allowing 5 hits and 1 walk, striking out 4 for Columbus in the Clippers' 4-1 win over the RailRiders..................In Buffalo, the Bisons and Red Sox split a pair, with Pawtucket winning the opener, 8-3, and Buffalo rebounding in the nightcap, 4-0.  Anthony Gose (.258) had 3 walks on the day, scoring 2 runs and stealing his 3rd base of the year.   Bobby Korecky threw 2 scoreless frames in the second game for Buffalo................In Indianapolis, the Indians defeated the IronPigs, 5-1.  Jake Diekman threw a scoreless frame for Lehigh Valley and Mike Zagurski did the same for Indianapolis...............In Nashville, the Sounds topped Memphis, 5-2.  Jesus Sanchez threw another scoreless inning for Nashville.  Jesus had thrown 10 innings and allowed just 1 UNearned run on only 6 hits and 1 walk so far for the Brewers affiliate!!..................In Kodak, the Smokies edged Pensacola, 2-1.  Brian Schlitter got the save for Tennessee with a 1-2-3 9th, and Travis Mattair was 0 for 3 for the Blue Wahoos...........In Midland, D'Arby Myers had an RBI single for the Rock Hounds in their 6-0 win over Corpus Christi.  Speaking of the Hooks, Domingo Santana remains on the DL..............In Tulsa, Mike Cisco threw another scoreless frame for the Travelers in their 9-6 win over the Drillers.  Cisco has allowed just 5 hits and 2 walks in 10.1 innings of scoreless work so far for Arkansas.
