Freak stops Phils; Bourn up to 13

In St. Louis Thursday, Michael Bourn (.306) extended his hitting streak to 13 games with a single, a double, 2 walks, and stolen base #39, which leads the majors. He also scored a run in Houston's 5-3 win over the Cards. Sergio Escalona (2.70) recorded a "hold" (his 4th) with a 1-2-3 (1 K) 8th inning.

In Philadelphia, Tim "The Freak" Lincecum shut down the Phillies, and the Giants took a 4-1 victory, and the series 2 games to 1. It was the first time the Phillies lost back-to-back games at home since early May. Kyle Kendrick (5-5, 3.52) pitched well, keeping the Phillies in the game most of the way, and had some bad luck at the end. He allowed 4 runs (3 earned) on 6 hits and 2 walks in 6.1 innings of work. Carlos Ruiz (.265) had a double and a walk, and scored the Phillies' only run. Ruiz has been quietly coming on, hitting .333 in July. Michael Stutes (3.11) threw a 1-2-3 frame in the 8th for the Phillies.
