Less than 24 hours after the Mets hit Cole Hamels around, Kyle Kendrick scattered 6 hits and 3 walks over 7 innings of work, and left the game with a 5-1 advantage. Antonio Bastardo got the final 4 outs and recorded his 6th save, but gave up a run. It was the first run surrendered by Bastardo in his last 19 innings of work. His ERA ballooned to 1.02!! For Kendrick, it was his 5th win, and #57 for HomeSiders in the majors. Maybe I should start counting saves, too. Ryan Howard had an RBI hit in the first inning, his 73rd of the year.

In Pittsburgh, Sergio Escalona got 2 outs and stranded a runner in the 8th inning, keeping the Astros in the game. Houston tied it in the bottom half at 4-4, but lost in 11 innings, 7-5. Michael Bourn (.290) had 1 for 5 for the Astros.

B.J. Rosenberg started and allowed just 1 earned run (2 overall) in 5.1 innings to notch his 3rd win for the R-Phils. Mike Cisco (1.72) got 2 outs, Brad Lidge threw a scoreless inning, Jacob Diekman struck out 4, and allowed 2 hits and a walk, and Justin Friend (1.69) got his 6th save.

In St Lucie, David Wright had 2 hits to help the Mets beat the Threshers, 5-2. Sebastian Valle (.319) had 3 hits for the Threshers, and Brian Gump (4th HR), Troy Hanzawa and Jiwan James (.277, RBI, 18th SB) all had 2 hits in the losing effort. In Gwinnett, Yohan Flande came into a 2-2 game in the 7th inning and promptly allowed 2 runs and absorbed a loss in the Braves' 4-2 defeat to Norfolk...............In Columbus, Jason Donald (.315) had 2 walks, 2 stolen bases and scored 3 runs to help the Clippers to a 6-4 win over Indianapolis...............In Sacramento, Michael Taylor (.268) had 2 doubles and a walk, scored a run and drove 1 in as the River Cats beat Fresno, 8-7.
