Welcome Back, HomeSiders. There has been a problem at the website for the last 10 days and I have been unable to post.
Too much has happened to recall it all, but here are the highlights since my last post.
Jarred Cosart became the 51st former BlueClaw to play in the majors, and his debut with Houston was superb! Jarred pitched 8+ innings in St Pete, and allowed the Rays no runs on just 2 hits and 2 walks, and picked up a win in the Astros' 2-1 victory.
Jarred is the 12th HomeSider to notch a major league win this year for a total of 38 wins.
Cosart has been optioned back to Oklahoma City so that he can start the AAA All Star Game tonight in Reno, Nevada. Tuffy Gosewisch will also participate for the PCL.
Ryan Howard will miss 6-8 weeks with inflammation in his left knee.
Cesar Hernandez has been sent from Lehigh Valley to Reading and he is learning to play center field. This makes the already crowded Reading outfield even more so.....Daniel Carela has been promoted from Lakewood to Clearwater, and has already won a game for the Threshers!
Last Thursday, 3 BlueClaws combined to throw the 4th no-hitter in team history, and the first in 7 years, over the Rome Braves. Jeb Stefan tossed the first 6 innings, walking 4 and striking out 5 for his 3rd win of the year. Ramon Oviedo took over and fanned 4 of the 6 hitters he faced, before Chris Burgess got the final 3 outs. The BlueClaws had a 5-2 home stand, and are in Georgia to face Augusta tonight.
