Rain and travel kept the games to a minimum Monday, but there were a few notes of interest.
In Allentown, Cameron Rupp drove in 3 runs with a home run and a sac fly, and Lendro Castro has 2 hits and scored 2 runs as the IronPigs shut out Toledo, 7-0............In Reading, Anthony Hewitt hit his 9th home run, and David Buchanan pitched into the 9th inning as the Fightin Phils defeated Richmond, 4-1. Buchanan allowed just 1 run on 5 hits and 3 walks to notch his 5th win of the year and Mike Nesseth got the last 2 outs to pick up his first save.
In Oklahoma City, Jonathan Singleton had 2 hits, scored a run and drove in another, but the redHawhs dropped a 6-4 game to Albuquerque. Jarred Cosart started for OKC, and went 5 innings, allowing 3 runs, but just 1 earned, on 5 hits and 3 walks, lowering his ERA to 2.98 and receiving no decision. Josh Zeid tossed a 1-2-3 9th inning, striking out 2 of the 3. I would not be surprised to see all 3 of these guys on the Astros before the year is out.............In Iowa City, Brian Schlitter recorded his 8th save for the Cubs, in their 4-2 win over Memphis. In 30 games combined between AA and AAA, Brian has 10 saves, and a 1.18 ERA in 39 inning pitched this year............In Nashville, Jesus Sanchex (2.09) threw 3 shut out frames, allowing just 1 walk, and striking out 4 for the Sounds, who scored a run in the bottom of the 9th inning to defeat Round Rock, 3-2.
