Tigers top Phillies again

In Detroit Saturday, the Tigers and Max Scherzer held the Phillies to just 2 hits, 1 a double by Darin Ruf,  and the Tigers pounded Philadelphia, 10-0.  Jake Diekman and Justin De Fratus each threw a shut out frame in relief for the Phillies, who dropped their 7th straight on this trip, which wraps up today...........In Toronto, Jonathan Villar had a hit, 2 walks, 2 stolen bases and scored 2 runs to help the Astros to an 8-6 win over the Jays...............In Cleveland, Michael Bourn's lead off home run in the bottom of the 1st inning was all Justin Masterson would neeed in a 1-0 win over the Rangers.  It was the 4th home run this year for Bourn.......In Denver, Milwaukee topped the Rockies, 7-5.  Josh Outman tossed a scoreless inning (1 hit, 1 K) for Colorado...............In Los Angeles, Alfredo Simon threw 1.2 innings of relief, stranding an inherited runner, but then allowing a run on 2 hits inn the next frame of the Reeds' 4-1 loss to the Dodgers.


In Pawtucket, Derrick Mitchell had 3 hits and 2 RBI, and Freddy Galvis, Leandro Castro and Cameron Rupp added 2 hits each in a 10-0 IronPIgs win over the Red Sox.  Rupp hit his 4th home run for Lehigh Valley, driving in a total of 3 runs..........In Reading, Maikel Franco and Anthony Hewitt had 3 hits each to power the Fightin Phils to a 12-3 win over New Britain.  Franco is hitting .382 since being promoted, and .327 combined in 97 games so far in 2013, and is looking more like a lock for the Paul Owens Award this year.

In Midland, Domingo Santana hit his 16th home run, 1 of his 2 hits in the game, and helped Corpus Christi defeat the Rock Hounds, 7-6.  D'Arby Myers was 1 for 4 for Midland...............In Reno, Tuffy Gosewisch' RBI double was all the Aces would need in a 1-0 win over Tacoma.

Down in Florida, Travis d'Arnaud has now played 4 games for the GCL Mets, going 6 for 15 (.400) and knocking in 5 runs.
