Drabek wins debut

Kyle Drabek won his debut for New Hampshire in Connecticut Thursday night, going 5 innings and giving up 4 runs (3 earned) on 4 hits and 2 walks, striking out 8, as the Fisher Cats defeated New Britain, 5-4. This sets Kyle up for a showdown Tuesday night in Reading against his former team.

Speaking of Reading, the Portland Sea Dogs ruined the opener in Baseballtown, pounding the R-Phils, 10-5. Vance Worley was cruising early, but could not survive the 5th inning. In the end, Vance gave up 4 runs on 5 hits and 2 walks in just 4.1 frames. Matt German (.2 IP, 2 R), Mike Schwimer ( 2 IP, 1 R), and BJ Rosenberg ( 1 IP, 3 R) also struggled before Chance Chapman restored order in the 9th. Freddy Galvis and Tuffy Gosewisch had 2 hits each for Reading.

Also in the Eastern League, Mike Dubee threw a 1-2-3 inning for Altoona, as the Curve beat Harrisburg, 5-1.
