Monasterios makes debut

Carlos Monasterios made his major league debut this afternoon in Pittsburgh. With the Dodgers trailing 8-2 going to the bottom of the 6th, manager Joe Torre called Carlos into the game, and he promptly got 3 outs, throwing just 8 pitches, 6 for strikes. The Pirates won the game, 11-5, and another former BlueClaw hits the big time!

The Phillies manhandled the Nationals, 11-1 behind Roy Halladay. Ryan Howard had 2 hits, including a 2-run homer, Carlos Ruiz had a hit and 3 walks, and scored 2 runs. Antonio Bastardo recorded 2 outs, walking 1 and striking out 1. Cole Hamels will make his season debut in game #2, which is Wednesday.

Lou Marson was 0 for 3 for Cleveland, and the Indians went down, 6-0, to the White Sox and Mark Buerle. Gavin Floyd will make his first start for the ChiSox Thursday night.
