Let me locate a few more of our favorites for you.
I found 2 of our guys playing in the Mexican League, which started play 2 weeks ago. Chris Roberson, off a good winter league season and Caribbean World Series, has got off to hot start with Monterrey. In just 14 games, "Robey" has 24 hits, including 8 doubles, 3 triples, 3 home runs, 11 RBI and 3 steals, posting an impressive .393 average and a .456 on base percentage.
Original BlueClaw Yoel Hernandez is also out of the gate fast. Yoel has already been in 11 of 14 games for Oaxaca, throwing for 3 consecutive days two different times already. 1 run, 11 hits, 4 walks, 10 K's, in 12.1 innings of work....0.73 ERA. A native of Venezuela, Yoel will be 30 years old this month.
Word from the west coast is that the Athletics are hoping to have Josh Outman back by mid-season. This will make 2010 a rebuilding year for Josh, who missed most of 2009 after a promising start.
The Cleveland Indians have announced that Lou Marson will indeed be the starting catcher on opening day. The Tribe has also optioned Carlos Carrasco to Columbus where he will start the season in the Clipper's rotation, and be teammates with Jason Donald. With Matt Maloney retuning to Louisville, we could get an International League showdown between 2 of our 2006 BlueClaw champions.
With the injuries to Joe Blanton, J.C. Romero and Brad Lidge, it appears Kyle Kendrick and Jamie Moyer will both be in the rotation to start the year for the Phillies. Look for Andrew Carpenter to fill the roster spot and work out of the pen.
