Diek the winner, Z-Man the loser, as Phils edge Bucs

In Clearwater Thursday, Pete Orr hit a home run off Mike Zagurski in the bottom of the 8th inning to give the Phillies a 2-1 win over the Pirates.  Jake Diekman was in the right place at the right time to pick up the win.  Jake pitched a scoreless inning, despite allowing 2 hits.  Ryan Howard drove in his 13th run of the spring in the 6th inning, and Darin Ruf had a hit in 3 at bats for the Phillies.  Domonic Brown (0 for 3) and Freddy Galvis (0 for 4) also played for Philadelphia.   No other HomeSiders played in Florida.

Out in Arizona, Jason Donald (.370) had 2 more hits and drove in a run for Cincinnati in the Reds' 8-7 loss to Seattle,  and  Michael Taylor returned to the Oakland line up and had an RBI single in 2 at bats in the Athletics' 6-2 defeat by Texas.

Last night in Miami, the Dominican Republic rallied for 2 runs in the 8th inning to beat Team USA, 3-1, and advance to the semifinals in San Francisco.   The USA will play Puerto Rico tonight, with the winner joining the DR, the Netherlands and Japan in the final Four!
