The Lakewood BlueClaws got back in the win column on Monday, beating Hagerstown 2-1 behind a strong effort by Darren Byrd. Byrd picked up his first win of the year by throwing 6 shut out innings, allowing just 2 hits and NO walks, striking out 4. Darren has pitched well since returning to Lakewood, posting a 3.18 ERA in his 5 starts over 28.1 innings. Sergio Escalona recorded 5 outs (3 strike outs) to post his 5th "hold" and Jared Simon recorded his 11th save despite allowing an unearned run in the 9th. Freddy Galvis picked up 2 hits for the BlueClaws, the RBI's going to Dennis Winn (#21) and Moose Mattair (#29). Lakewood will go for 2 in a row with Julian Sampson (4-1, 4.60) on Tuesday.
Also Monday, in St. Paul, Minnesota, Mario Delgado hit his 8th home run of the year as the Lincoln Saltdogs topped the St. Paul Saints, 3-0. Mario is hitting .342 for the Saltdogs.
