The Washington Nationals assigned Zack Segovia to their GCL affiliate apparently to monitor and assess him. He started on Sunday against the Mets and threw 4 innings, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits and a walk, striking out 5. I'm sure we will see him move up soon.
Meanwhile, on Monday in Frisco, Texas, Tim Gradoville picked up 2 hits and a walk in Frisco's 15-7 slugfest win over Corpus Christi. For Grado, it was his 14th game for the Ranger's affiliate, that's 12 more than he got into with the Phillies, and bumped his average to .205. At least he is getting a chance to play!!
A few miles north of there, in Oklahoma City, Elizardo Ramirez notched his 6th win of the season in the Redhawk's 9-4 triumph over Round Rock. "Easy" went 7.1 innings, giving up just 4 runs (3 earned) on 7 hits, NO walks and 3 strike outs. Ramirez threw 86 pitches, 60 for strikes to improve to 6-3, 4.48 on the year.
The news was not so good in Salt Lake City, where Gio Gonzalez was roughed up by the Bees. Gio lasted just 2.2 frames, allowing 6 earned runs on 7 hits (2 HR)and 4 walks to fall to 3-6 with a 5.51 ERA for the Sacramento River Cats.
