Brevard County has gotten the best of Clearwater this week, with a 7-4 win Tuesday night and a 5-4 come from behind victory this morning. Last night the Manatees defeated Yohan Flande, who had given up just 1 earned run in his first 4 starts. Last night Brevard County got to him for 6 runs on 8 hits and 3 walks, striking out 5. Flande is now 3-1, 2.10 on the year. Walter Tejeda pitched a scoreless inning in his Clearwater debut. Dominic Brown homered again, his 5th of the year, and Fredddy Galvis had 2 hits and 2 stolen bases.
This morning Kyle Drabek got the assignment and was solid for 6.1 innings. He gave up 3 runs, just 1 earned, on 6 hits and 1 walk, striking out 9, and received no decision. Chris Kissoock and Zack Sterner also gave up a run apiece, Sterner suffering the loss. This time Brown had a double, a triple and a walk and is 15 for 33 (.455) in his last 9 games.
In the other game this morning, Kannapolis enacted their revenge on Lakewood, crushing the BlueClaws, 9-3. Jon Velasquez had his first rough outing, allowing 9 runs on 11 hits, suffering his first loss after 5 victories. The BlueClaws managed just 5 hits, 2 by Jesus Villegas, who is now hitting .435.
