Good pitching for the most part in minor league camp on Saturday with Jesse Biddle, Trevor May, Josh Zeid, Mike Cisco, Drew Naylor and Justin De Fratus all looking strong in various games. Two hit games for Zack Collier (A game), Jim Murphy (high A), and Torre Langley (AA).
On the major league front, Cole Hamels struggled through 3.2 innings of work against the Orioles, allowing 5 runs on 7 hits and 3 walks, striking out 5. Scott Mathieson continued his impressive spring with another 1-2-3 inning of work. Tuffy Gosewisch (still in camp) was 0 for 1 as a replacement......Jason Jaramillo (.526) was 1 for 2 and scored a run for the Pirates in Pittsburgh's 7-5 win over Boston in Bradenton.....Taylor Buchholz threw another scoreless inning against the Braves (that's 10 if you are counting, and I am) to keep his perfect spring going for the Mets and R.J. Swindel tossed another goose egg for the Rays in their 9-2 loss to the Twins...........The Blue Jays and Yankees played to a 5-5 tie, Anthony Gose playing the whole game in center filed for the Jays. He was 0 for 4.
If you are wondering about Michael Bourn, he has been under the weather and sidelined this week for Houston.
Out in Arizona, the Athletics topped the White Sox, 8-3. Michael Taylor entered the game as a pinch runner and scored a run for Oakland. The Brewers and Dodgers ended in a 6-6 tie, Zack Segovia throwing a scoreless inning for Milwaukee.
