Tuffy's walkoff gives Phils come-from-behind win

Tuffy Gosewisch drove in 2 runs with a 2-out single in the bottom of the 9th, to give the Phillies a 3-2 win against the Pirates. Tuffy, another HomeSider who has made some noise this spring, is hitting .444 and is getting a long look this year. Could he be 1 injury away from making the squad? Ryan Howard added 2 hits in the game, including a double and Carlos Ruiz' struggles continue, he was 0 for 3.

In Jupiter, Michael Bourn had a double, a triple, drove in 2 and scored a run to lead the Astros to a 9-2 win over the Marlins. Jay Happ started and picked up the win, throwing 5 innings and allowing 4 hits and 4 walks (too high), striking out 1 and giving up just 1 UNearned run......In Dunedin, Anthony Gose got into the Jay's 6-5 win over the Yankees, going 0 for 1.

In Goodyear, Carlos Carrasco struggled through 4.1 innings against the Rangers, allowing 5 runs on 7 hits (including 2 home runs) and 2 walks, striking out 5. Lou Marson had an RBI hit and scored a run for the Tribe, who prevailed 12-6.......In Glendale, the White Sox throttled the Athletics, 18-1. Considering that score, Josh Outman did OK. Outman went 3.1 innings and gave up 2 runs on 5 hits, NO walks and struck out 2. Michael Taylor was 0 for 2 in the game and I failed to mention earlier this week that Adrian Cardenas was assigned to AAA Sacramento......In Mesa, Matt Maloney gave up 3 runs on 5 hits and 2 walks in 2 innings of work for the Reds, in Cincinnati's 14-13(!) win over the Cubs.

I also noticed 2007 BlueClaw Darren Byrd was in minor league camp with the Brewers and then was called up on Wednesday when the Brewers had a few split squad games coming up. So far, I don't think he has pitched in a major league game.
