Phive in a row

The Phillies scored 6 runs in the 8th inning to break open a close game and beat the Cardinals, 9-2, clinching their 5th straight division crown. Mike Stutes (3.77 and rising recently),who appears to be struggling right now, allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in just .2 innings, but recorded his 12th hold. Raul Ibanez hit a grand slam to highlight the big inning, and Jimmy Rollins picked up 4 hits to pace the Phillies offense.

In Oakland, Gio Gonzalez won his 14th game of the year for the Athletics with 7 good innings against Detroit. Gio allowed just 1 run on 8 hits and 2 walks, striking out 4 for his win.
