Jason Donald returned to the Reading line up last night, and immediately made an impact, singling, stealing a base and scoring on Lou Marson's hit in the first inning. J.D. is hitting .316, while Marson is batting .296 and seems quite at home in the clean up spot in P.J. Forbes' batting order. The game winning hit came off the bat of Jeremy Slayden (again), a 2 run home run for the 3-2 victory. For "Slay" it was his 3rd dinger, and upped his RBI total to 14. Shane Victorino continued his rehab, going 1 for 3 for the Phils, playing in center field.
Drew Carpenter gave up 2 runs in the first inning, but slammed the door after that, going 6, giving up 5 hits and 3 walks, striking out 7. Jason Kershner, who came over from the Reds as a free agent, pitched 2 scoreless inning to record the win, and Pat Overholt pitched a 1-2-3 9th, to pick up save #5. Reading improves to 10-11 on the year.
