Good Morning, HomeSiders,
I am off to New Britain to see Reading take on the Rock Cats the next 2 days, but very quickly Monday's highlights-
Kyle Kendrick had another shaky outing last night, lasting just 5 innings, charged with 5 runs, on 8 hits. Carlos Ruiz drove in the game winning run, which was charged to Taylor Buchholz. Taylor came in the game with Colorado leading 6-5 and retired the Phillies 1-2-3 in the seventh, but in the 8th, after getting the first 2, he surrendered singles to Ryan Howard (who had 2 hits on the night) and Pat Burrell, before walking Pedro Feliz to load the bases. Buchholz yielded to Brian Fuentes, who gave up Ruiz' game winning hit. It is only the 2nd time this year Buchholz has been charged with runs.
Michael Bourn had a single, a walk and 2 stolen bases in Houston's 10-3 win over San Diego. Bourn is 13 for 13 in steals.
Carlos Monasterios won his second game of the year last night in Clearwater, pitching 6.1 scoreless innings against Tampa, giving up just 4 hits, and 3 walks, striking out 6 and lowering his ERA to 2.81. The Threshers won, 6-0. New Britain topped Reading last night, 5-2, despite 3 hits each for Javon Moran and Greg Golson. Golson is batting .338.
I will try to blog from Connecticut some time today, or tonight after the game.
