The Lexington Legends stopped the BlueClaws 4-game winning streak, defeating Lakewood 4-2 Saturday night. Jacob Diekman pitched well enough to win, but Lakewood could manage only 4 hits one night after accumulating 19. Diekman threw 7 strong innings, allowing just 2 runs on 7 hits, NO walks, and 3 strike outs. Jacob left the game with the score tied 2-2, and received no decision. Walter Tejeda came in to pitch the bottom of the 8th and gave up the deciding runs.
Of Lakewood's 4 hits, 2 came off the bat of Joel Naughton, who also got the only RBI of the game for the 'Claws. The other 2 hits went to D'Arby Myers (lead off double and run scored in 1st) and Michael Taylor (double and run scored in 7th).
After rereading yesterday post, I realize I did not mention that Herman Demmink got the game winning hit in the 12th inning, so I apologize and say "way to go, Herm". The BlueClaws are now 4-2 on the current trip which ends tomorrow in Lexington.
I also overlooked another former 'Claw getting a start today, Andy Baldwin will start tonight for Tacoma in Tucson.
