Friday night in Philadelphia, the Blue Jays shut out the Phillies, 1-0 on 4 hits. Ryan Howard had one of the hits for Philadelphia, who wrap up the preseason with a rematch today, before heading to Atlanta to open the regular season Monday..........In Houston, the Cubs and Astros played to a 6-6 tie. Josh Zeid threw the final inning for Houston, walking 2 (1 on purpose), lowering his spring ERA to a stellar 1.50 in major league games.......In Phoenix, the Reds edged the Diamondbacks, 2-1. Jason Donald was 0 for 2 for Cincinnati, and Tuffy Gosewisch went 0 for 1 in a relief role for Arizona. Alfredo Simon got the save, throwing the final frame for the Reds.......Out in Surprise, the Royals hit 4 home runs to top the Indians, 5-1. Michael Bourn was 1 for 2 in the action, and Lou Marson had an RBI double for the Tribe.
If you go to the Phillies website this morning, there is a great video of Cole Hamels and the Phanatic with the giant hot dog launcher. Cole will be the Phillies starter in the opener!
Minor league affiliates will set their rosters this weekend once the big league teams make their final decisions.
The Rangers and the Astros will kick off the regular season Sunday night, in Houston's first game as an American League team!!
