All of Friday's scheduled action in Arizona was rained out, but there were games in Florida.
The only place to start is Lake Buena Vista, where Anthony Gose led the Blue Jays to a 7-1 win over Atlanta. Gose had 2 singles, a 2-run home run, stole 2 bases and scored 4 of the Jay's 7 runs!! I don't know if he is going to start the year with Toronto, but at .375 with 5 steals so far this spring, Gose is certainly giving the Jays something to think about. Tyson Brummett threw a 1-2-3 9th inning for Toronto.
The rest of the Braves went into Kissimmee and outscored the Astros, 14-9. Jason Jaramillo had an RBI double and a walk, and scored a run for Houston, and friend of the HomeSide Yohan Flande, retired 4 hitters with just 6 pitches for the Braves.......In Lakeland, the Tigers beat the Mets, 3-2. Travis d'Arnaud was 0 for 1 and was hit by a pitch in his right elbow and left the game. There is no serious damage and Travis is listed as "day-to'day"...........In Bradenton, Mike Zagurski struck out the side in his only inning for the Pirates in their 6-3 loss to Baltimore. Zaguski has yet to allow an earned run this spring, and looks like he could make the big team.
Finally, in Port Charlotte, the Rays edged the Phillies, 3-2. Red hot Domonic Brown had 2 more hits and at .424, the season cannot start soon enough for him! Freddy Galvis had a double and scored a run, and Darin Ruf also doubled in the game. Carlos Ruiz was 0 for 3, and Zack Collier struck out in his only at bat. Kyle Kendrick was the starter and loser, going 4 innings and giving up 3 runs on 5 hits and 1 walk. Mike Stutes came on for a scoreless frame in the 5th, striking out 2 of the 3 hitters he faced.
I will be out of town Sunday from early in the morning, but I will be back Monday morning.
