Thursday in Fort Myers, Cole Hamels had another strong outing as he tunes up for Opening day. Cole pitched 6 strong innings against Boston, allowing just 1 run on 4 hits and 2 walks, striking out 5. The Red Sox got to Mike Stutes, who was wild, walking 3, and allowing a hit and surrendering 5 runs. Mike Nesseth came on and got the final out out the inning, but the damamge was done in the 6-1 Boston victory. Freddy Galvis had 2 of the Phillies 6 hits, Darin Ruf adding in a double.
In Port Charlotte, the Jays topped the Rays, 3-1. Anthony Gose was 0 for 4, his average slipping to .279 for Toronto this spring......Over in Port St Lucie, the Cards edged the Mets, 3-2. Travis d'Arnaud had a walk in 2 at bats for New York.......In Lakeland, Quintion Berry had a walk and scored a run in 3 plate appearances for Detriot in the Tigers' 7-2 loss to Houston.
Out in Goodyear, the Athletics outscored the Reds, 10-9. Jason Donald (.303 so far) was 0 for 1 in his only at bat for Cincinnati.......In Scottsdale, Carlos Carrasco won his 2nd straight start, throwing 5 innings for the Indians in their 5-4 win over Arizona. Carlos allowed 4 runs on 8 hits and NO walks, striking out 3 on the way. Michael Bourn was 0 for 4 for the Indians.
