The Lakewood BlueClaws overcame a 5-0 deficit, and rallied for a 6-5 walk-off win on Brian Pointer's single in the bottom of the 9th! It was the 13th RBI for Pointer in the last 9 games! Art Charles and Larry Greene had 2 hits each, and Mitch Walding had a big 2-run double during the 4-run 6th inning rally that got Lakewood back in the game. Miguel Nunez fought his way through 6 innings, allowing 5 runs, 4 earned, on 11 hits, and NO walks. The win goes to Geoff Broussard, who threw 3 shut out innings, allowing just 3 hits, with 2 Ks, It was the 2nd win for Broussard, who is posting a 0.82 ERA in 11 innings so far for Lakewood. The BlueClaws have won 6 of their last 8 games.
In Clearwater, Maikel Franco hit 2 home runs (# 7 & 8), and Chris Seratella had 3 hits for the Threshers in a 6-3 win over Bradenton. Gabriel Arias improved to 5-1, 1.69 with 6.2 innings of work, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits and 3 walks, striking out 6.....In Norfolk, Tyler Cloyd was rocked by the Tides to the tune of 7 runs on 11 hits, including 4 home runs, in just 3.1 innings, and Norfolk topped Lehigh Valley, 8-6.............In Syracuse, Carlos Carrasco pitched 5 innings for Columbus, and allowed just 1 run (UNearned) on 3 hits and 1 walk, striking out 5. Carlos' AAA ERA is now 1.60 The Clippers won the game 4-2, in 11 innings............In Indianapolis, the Buffalo Bisons beat the Indians, 6-4. Anthony Gose had a hit, 2 walks, scored a run, and threw out a runner at home for Buffalo!.............. In Albuquerque, Tuffy Gosewisch (.294) had 2 hits, including a 3-run home run during the Aces 5-run 9th inning rally en route to an 8-3 win over the Isotopes. It was the 4th home run this year for Tuffy................In Sacramento, Jonathan Villar (.305) had a single, a double and a walk, and scored a run for Oklahoma City in the RedHawks' 7-2 win over the River Cats. Josh Zeid notched his 3rd win, tossing 1.1 innings of scoreless ball, and is now 3-0, 1.96 for the season.............In Bowie, Trevor May allowed 5 runs on 9 hits and 2 walks in 4 innings against the BaySox and took the loss in a 9-1 Bowie victory...............In Frisco, D'Arby Myers (.265) had 3 hits, scored a run and stole his 10th base for the Rock Hounds in their 5-4 loss to the RoughRiders.
In Corpus Christi, the San Antonio Missions beat the Hooks, 6-2. I find old friend Adam Buschini playing for San Antonio, AA in the Padres system. Adam played 83 games for the BlueClaws in 2010, and has sat out 2 years before resurfacing this year in San Antonio, and is 9 for his last 28, including a home run yesterday.
