Cloyd gets call; Myers getting hotter

First things first, my speculation has been proved wrong, the Phillies will activate Tyler Cloyd for tonight's game in Miami.  Tyler takes the roster spot of Carlos Ruiz, who has a " grade 2" strained  hamstring and is likely to be out 3-4 weeks.  Ryan Howard received a cortisone shot in his knee, and is "day-to-day".  Aren't we all?

Last night, Cole Hamels pitched well- 6 innings, 2 runs, 7 hits, NO walks, 10 Ks- but was the hard luck loser in the Marlins' 5-1 victory.  Justin De Fratus threw a scoreless 7th, but when he allowed a leadoff hit in the 8th, he was lifted. Philippe Aumont gave up 3 straight hits when he came in and 3 runs scored, 1 of which was charged to Justin.  The Phillies'  run came courtesy of  Domonic Brown's team leading 8th home run in the 2nd inning.  Domonic (.250) had 2 hits on the night and is playing well.

In Midland, D'Arby Myers (.286) had 4 hits, including a home run, and drove in 5 runs for the Rock Hounds in a wild 19-11 win over Corpus Christi.  D'Arby is one of my favorites, but I would not shake his hand right now...........BECAUSE I WOULD GET BURNED!!!   He is smokin' hot, 15 for 31 (that's .484)  over the last 7 games, with 4 doubles, a triple, the home run, and 10 RBI!!!!!

In Salisbury, the BlueClaws defeated Delmarva, 3-1, as Jonathan Musser won in his Lakewood debut.  The 21-year old threw 5 innings, and allowed just 1 UNearned run, on 5 hits and 3 walks.  Jordan Guth, who has been terrific lately, threw 3 more shut out innings- no hits,  2 walks and 4 Ks.  In his last 4 outings, Jordan has pitched 10.2 innings, and allowed no runs, only 2 hits and 4 walks, striking out 11.  Nice job!!  Roman Quinn had a double and his 4th home run of the year, driving in 2 of the 3 Lakewood runs.  Art Charles, Mitch Walding and Angelo Mora all had 2-hit games for the Claws,  who have won 8 of 11..........In Reading, Jim Murphy, Edgar Duran and Cameron Rupp all homered and the Fightin Phils defeated Altoona, 6-3.  The trio also split the RBIs equally!   This morning, Murphy is 8th in the Eastern League at .318,  2nd in home runs with 10, and tied for 3rd in RBI with 33................In Allentown, Pete Orr had 4 hits and 5 RBI, and Steve Susdorf (.319) had 2 hits, an RBI and scored a run for the IronPigs in a decisive 14-5 win over Rochester.  Mike Stutes threw another 1-2-3 inning, with 2 Ks. Are you watching, Philadelphia?
