Worley blanks Pigs; Santana has 4 hits

In Boston Monday, the Red Sox pounded Tyler Cloyd and the Phillies, 9-3.  Cloyd (1-1) allowed 6 runs on 9 hits and a walk in just 2.1 innings of work.  Mike Stutes came on, and threw the next 2.1 innings, giving up 2 runs, 1 earned on 4 hits and NO walks, Antonio Bastardo tossed a 1-2-3 8th, and Justin De Fratus got the final out in the 9th.  Ryan Howard had 2 hits, and Domonic Brown hit his 10th home run for Philadelphia.......In Cincinnati, the Reds beat the Indians, 4-2.  Michael Bourn was 0 for 4 for the Tribe, but watch the highlights and look for a great catch by Michael on a ball hit directly over his head.  It was as good a play as you will see.........In Detroit, Mike Zagurski made his season debut for the Pirates, throwing a scorless 6th inning for Pittsburgh in their 6-5 loss to the Tigers.


In Rochester, Vance Worley threw a complete game, 5-hit shut out at the IronPigs in his first game since being sent back to AAA.  Vance walked 4 and strruck out 4 in the Red Wing's 5-0 win.  BJ Rosenberg started and took the hard luck loss, going 4 innings and allowing just 1 run on 2 hits and 4 walks, striking out 5.   Troy Hanzawa and Leandro Castro had a hit each for Lehigh Valley...............In Harrisburg, Reading dropped a 3-1 decision despite a good performance by Hector Neris.  Neris went 5.2 innings against the Senators, allowing just 1 run on 6 hits and 3 walks, leaving the game in a 1-1 tie.  Juan Sosa gave up the game winning runs in the 8th inning on a 2-run home run by Senator's  catcher Jeff Howell...........In Lakewood, Miguel Nunez won his 5th game, tying him for the league lead, in a 6-1 win over Delmarva.   Nunez was brilliant, going 6 innings and allowing just 1 infield hit and 2 walks.  Willie Carmona and Carlos Tocci had 2 hits each, and each had a hit in the big, 4-run 8th inning which put the game away.  Jordan Guth, who has been great since moving to the pen, threw 3 scoreless innings, allowing just 1 walk on the way and recording the save.


In Corpus Christi, Domingo Santana had 4 hits, including his 8th home run for the Hooks in their 14-4 thrashing of Arkansas.



Another game, another 2 hits for D'Arby Myers!  D'Arby had 2 singles and scored 2 runs for the Rock Hounds, raising his average up to .292 in a 10-8 Midland win in Springfield.............In Nashville, the Sounds lost to Albuquerque, 7-4.  Jesus Sanchez (3.16)  threw 2 innings for Nashville allowing 1 earned run on 2 hits and NO walks..........In Louisville, Carlos Carrasco started for Columbus and went 4 innings for the Clippers, giving up 3 runs on 4 hits, 2 walks and a plunk, striking out 5 in a game eventually won by Columbus in 12 innings, 13-11................In Tucson, Jesus Merchan had 2 hits and an RBI for the Padres, as they beat the River Cats, 2-0. ..........
