Pettibone tops Tribe

In Philadelphia Tuesday night, Jonathan Pettibone pitched another strong game for the Phillies, going 6.2 innings against the Indians in a 6-2 Phillies' victory.  J-Bone allowed just  2 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks, striking out 4 to improve to 3-0, 3.41 in his short major league career!  Antonio Bastardo notched his 6th hold, recording the next 2 outs, and then Juistin De Fratus retired the only hitter he faced.  Domonic Brown (.257) had 2 more hits, knocked in a run and scored another one, Ryan Howard and Carlos Ruiz each had a hit and a walk,  with Ruiz scoring twice during the game.  Freddy Galvis had an RBI hit in his only at bat.  The win by Pettibone was #17 this year for HomeSiders, and the 8th in May after just 9 in all of April!   Michael Bourn was 1 for 5 for the Indians.

The Athletics have sent Michael Taylor back to Sacramento again.   Mike is racking up those frequent flyer miles going back and forth this year.

In Lakewood, the BlueClaws rallied to tie the game in the bottom of the 9th inning, on the 3rd hit of the game by Roman Quinn, but lost to Delmarva, 7-6 in the 12th.  Quinn, celebrating his 20th birthday, was on base 4 times, scoring twice in addition to knocking in the tying run with 2 down in the 9th!  Willie Carmona added 2 hits for Lakewood, who got great bullpen work after starter Lino Martinez could only get 5 outs.  Felix Santos bailed us out with 3.1 of scoreless relief, letting Lakewood recover from an early 5-1 deficit.  Jeb Stefan and Zack Cooper each tossed 2 scorless innings, before Delvi Francisco came for extra innings.  Delvi posted scoreless 10th and 11th innings before allowing the eventual game winner in the 12th..............In Clearwater, Kelly Dugan (.328) had 3 hits, including his 2nd home run in 2 days (#3 overall) and Cameron Perkins added 2 hits and 2 RBI, but the Threshers blew a 7-1 advantage and lost to Bradenton, 8-7. ............In Norfolk, Leandro Castro (.264) had 3 hits, and Darin Ruf (.296), Cody Overbeck, and Josh Fields added 2 hits each for the IronPigs, who lost a 12-7 match up with the Tides.  Mike Stutes threw a scoreless inning, but Joe Savery and Jake Diekman let in 7 runs between them in just an inning of work.   Diekman's ERA has ballooned to 6.75.  Ouch!!

In Reno, Tuffy Gosewisch (.284) was 4 for 5 to help power the Aces to an 11-1 win over the Cubs.................In Frisco, D'Arby Myers (.244) had 2 hits, 2 stolen bases (that's 9 for him) and scored  2 runs for Midland in the Rock Hounds' 6-2 win over the RoughRiders.........In Pensacola, Travis Mattair hit his 4th home run in the bottom of the 9th inning to tie the game and the Blue Wahoos went on to win 10-9 in 13 innings over Chattanooga.  "Moose" was also hit by a pitch, and walked twice, and scored 4 times for Pensacola.
