Floyd perfect; Taylor goes deep

The Phillies beat the Blue Jays 6-3 in Dunedin Monday. Michael Stutes threw 2 more scoreless innings, allowing just 1 hit and 1 walk while striking out 4. Scott Mathieson gave up 2 runs on 2 hits in the bottom of the ninth. Carlos Ruiz had a double, knocking in 2 runs, and Harold Garcia had a double in 2 at bats. Freddy Galvis had a walk in 2 plate appearances in relief of Jimmy Rollins and Domonic Brown had a walk and scored a run in 5 at bats. Anthony Gose drove in a run for Toronto with a sacrifice fly and Travis d'Arnaud struck out in his only at bat for the Jays. Kyle Drabek had originally been scheduled to pitch for Toronto, but was pushed back a few days with a stiff neck.

Elsewhere in Florida, the Braves pounded the Astros 13-3, Michael Bourn had a single and scored a run in 2 at bats (he was also plunked) for Houston, and Sergio Escalona made his Astros debut, giving up 4 runs on 3 hits and a walk in just 1 frame of work. Jason Jaramillo was 0 for 2 for Pittsburgh in the Pirates' 6-3 loss to Baltimore.

In Arizona, Gavin Floyd made his spring debut for the White Sox, tossing 2 perfect innings against the Dodgers in a 6-5 L.A. win. The Indians avenged a loss to the Reds a day earlier with 12-0 victory. Lou Marson was 1 for 3 with an RBI single for the Tribe. The Giants continued their winning way with a 10-9 victory over Milwaukee, but Zack Segovia threw a scoreless frame for the Brewers, allowing 1 hit and striking out 1.

HomSider of the day goes to Michael Taylor, who had 2 hits, including a 3 run home run, and scored 2 runs in Oakland's 8-7 loss to the Angels. Adrian Cardenas also contributed with a single in 2 at bats for Athletics.
