Matt Rizzotti replaced Howard and doubled in a run in his only at bat, and then scored. Freddy Galvis replaced Rollins and had a single, scored a run and drove one in with a sac fly. Harold Garcia was the starting DH and went 0 for 3. Mike Zagurski tossed a scoreless 8th inning (1 H, 1K) and Antonio Bastardo threw a 1-2-3 9th (2Ks) to record the save. Michael Dubee came in and got 2 outs ( 1H, 1K) for the Pirates in the 7th.

The Blue Jays split squad defeated the Canadian National team, 9-0. Anthony Gose had a walk and a hit and stole a base and Travis d'Arnaud belted a single and a triple, scored a run and drove in 3 for Toronto. Michael Bourn was 0 for 3 for Houston in the Astros' 10-2 loss to St. Louis, Mike Taylor was 0 for 1 in his only at bat for Oakland in the Athletics' 6-3 loss to Texas, and Greg Golson had a walk and a stolen base in 2 at bats for the Yankees in New York's 5-3 loss to Boston.

Congratulations to Carlos Carrasco, who left camp Thursday night to be with his wife Karelis for the birth of their first child.
