The Phillies and Jays met up in Dunedin this afternoon, Philadelphia coming out on top 12-7. J.A.Happ was the starter, throwing 3 innings, giving up a 2-run home run in the first to Adam Lind. Happ went on the pitch a scoreless 2nd and 3rd, allowing a total of just 3 hits and 1 walk, before yielding to Carlos Carrasco. Carlos also threw 3 innings, surrendering 5 runs (3 earned) on 3 hits (including 2 dingers), 1 walk, striking out 3, and picking up the win.
Ryan Howard had his 2nd home run of the spring, to go with 2 walks, Jeremy Slayden also went deep, one of his 2 hits. "Slay" scored twice and drove in 2. Jason Donald played shortstop for the departed Rollins, going 1 for 4 and a walk, and scored a run.
The two teams also played a split squad game. I know that Lou Marson, Tuffy Gosewich and Anthony Hewitt played in that one, but I have been having a hard time getting the report (and result) from that game.
The Pirates beat the Reds, 2-1. Jason Jaramillo got the start for the Pirates, going 1 for 2, scoring a run and throwing out 2 would-be base stealers! The Yankees and the Astros played to a 5-5 draw, Michael Bourn had a walk in 5 plate appearances, and scored a run for Houston.
