In Arizona, the Athletics spotted Gio Gonzalez to a 4-0 lead after 2 innings, but Gio could not get through the 3rd. Gonzalez gave up 3 runs, on 6 hits, no walks, striking out 1 and leaving the game with a 4-3 lead in the A's 15-6 win. Gonzalez and Josh Outman are the 2 main combatants for the #5 spot in Oakland's rotation.
The Rangers edged the White Sox 2-1. Elizardo Ramirez pitched a scoreless frame for Texas, and Greg Golson got into the game, but did not get an at bat. Ramirez has pitched 4 times so far, accumulating 4.1 innings, giving up only 1 hit, no walks, and 3 strike outs in his audition to make the team. Golson is 5 for 12 (that's .417), including 2 doubles, 2 runs scored and 3 RBI. Greg is probably headed for AAA Oklahoma in the PCL. On the White Sox side, Gavin Floyd will start Sunday's game. He has not pitched since Feb. 26, apparently nursing some minor injury or some soreness.
