The Houston Astros have promoted Jonathan Villar from Lancaster to AA Corpus Christi. Jonathan played his first game for the Hooks Wednesday and had a double and the game winning walk off home run in the bottom of the 9th inning!!! Congratulations to Villar on the promotion and the fantastic debut!!

The IronPigs beat Yohan Flande and Gwinnett Braves on Wednesday, 8-0. Flande started and went just 4 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks to fall to 2-2, 4.54 on the year for the Atlanta affiliate. Mike Schwimer threw 2 scoreless innings for Lehigh Valley, who are now 32-20, and 3 games in front of Scranton.

In Clearwater, St. Lucie shut down the Threshers, 3-0 on just 6 hits. Sebastian Valle (.338) had 3 of the hits, and D'Arby Myers had 2, but Clearwater could not score. Jonathan Pettibone was good, but he can't win if we don't score, so he falls to 5-4 on the year. Pettibone gave up 3 runs on 9 hits, NO walks, in his 5 innings.

In Greensboro Wednesday, Michael Dabbs hit his second home run of the game to give the BlueClaws a 5-4 win over the Grasshoppers in the opener of their series. Dabbs was 3 for 4 on the day, and drove in 4 of Lakewood's 5 runs. Aaron Altherr also had 3 hits, and Zack Collier and Geancarlo Mendez had 2 hits each, as Lakewood won for the 12th time in 14 games. This win, combined with Hagerstown's loss to Greenville, put Lakewood 3.5 games behind the Suns with 17 games to play. The teams play a big 4-game set in Lakewood June 12-15.

Mario Hollands started and was staked to 4-0 advantage after 3 innings, but could not hold it, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits in 5 innings. Colby Shreve was in the right place at the right time, after allowing the tying runs to score, threw 2 more innings to pick up his 3rd win. Lisalberto Bonilla (1.16) pitched the final 2 innings, recording his 4th save.
