R-Phils take 2 in a row

The Reading Phillies have won a couple in a row, winning the final game in New Britain 7-3 on Thursday, and the opener of their homestand 6-4 over New Hampshire.

On Thursday, Mike Spidale (.282), Jason Donald (.305), Jake Blalock (.295) and Clay Harris (.341) all had 2 hits and Brad Harman smacked his 9th home run of the season to support another great pitching performance by Fabio Castro. Castro, (8-1, 4.20) threw 7 innings, allowing just 2 runs on 5 hits and 1 walk, striking out 5, and has been fantastic sine his reinsertion into the rotation. In fact, in his last 5 starts, he is 4-0, giving up just 9 earned runs in 32 innings of work.

On Friday, Reading returned home and after J.D Durbin allowed 4 runs in the top of the 1st inning, Reading pounded their way to a 6-4 win, led by 3 hits from Greg Golson (.291), and 2 hits each from Lou Marson (.321) and Brad Harman (.211) , who also drove in 2 runs. Meanwhile, Durbin found his groove, and pitched 5 more innings without giving up another run. Travis Minix came in and threw 2 scoreless innings to pick up the win, and Justin Pope recorded his 6th save.

Tyson Brummett will start Saturday for Reading.
