Clutch Hewitt gives Lakewood a win

Anthony Hewitt hit a 2-out, 2-run home run in the top of the 9th inning to break a scoreless tie, and the BlueClaws took a 3-0 win in Salisbury Wednesday. It was Hewitt's 12th home run of the season. Earlier in the game, Anthony (.244) had singled and stolen second base. It was his 31st SB.

Domingo Santana (.274) and Cameron Rupp (.272) also had 2 hits each. Both of their averages are on the rise.

Garrett Claypool gave another good effort and came up empty for a win. 6 shut out frames (5 hits, 3 walks) with 5 strike outs. Lendy Castillo (4-1, 2.02) was the winning pitcher, going the next 2 innings, and Ryan Duke (2.16) threw a scoreless 9th for his 5th save.

With the victory, the BlueClaws improve to 22-17 in the second half, just 1 game behind Hickory. Lisalberto Bonilla (2-3, 2.40) will face Delmarva tonight in the finale of the road trip.
