Austin Wright made his debut for the BlueClaws Tuesday and threw 6 sparkling innings. He allowed just 1 run on 6 hits and 1 walk and 5 Ks in the Claws' 6-2 win over the Shorebirds. Wright, who was 3-1, 3.38 in 8 games (7 starts) in Williamsport, was selected in the 8th round by the Phillies in this June's draft out of University of Mississippi. Colby Shreve (2.82) threw 2 more scoreless innings and has not allowed a run in his last 11.1 innings of work, and not allowed an EARNED run since June.
Domingo Santana (.270) had a single, a double, a walk, an RBI, and scored 3 times to pace the Lakewood attack with Anthony Hewitt (2 singles, 2 stolen bases- for a team leading 30, and scored a run), Miguel Alverez and Jim Murphy (2 doubles) all adding 2 hits each.
Lakewood is now 21-17 in the second half, just 2 games behind Hickory, and will send Garrett Claypool against Delmarva tonight.
