The IronPigs and the Yankees split a doubleheader in Scranton on Monday, with Lehigh Valley winning the opener, 4-3. Roy Oswalt started for the Pigs and went 6 good innings. Mike Zagurski (3-0, 2.27) threw a scoreless frame and picked up the win when Lehigh scored 2 in the 8th. Mike Schwimer (1.76) recorded his 9th save. Domonic Brown had 2 hits, a walk, a stolen base and scored a run. The Yankees took the second game, 4-1. Joe Savery threw a scoreless inning in that one, and Greg Golson (.282) was 1 for 6 (with a walk, and a run scored) on the day. The split leaves Scranton in 3rd place, 4 games behind the front running IronPigs.
David Buchanan will make his debut for Clearwater tonight against first place Tampa.
After a pinch hit double in his debut for Lancaster on Sunday, Jonathan Singleton popped 2 more hits yesterday in the JetHawks' 4-3 loss at Bakersfield..............In Huntsville, Quintin Berry (.277) had a hit and a walk, stole his 22nd base, and scored a run for the Mudcats in Carolina's 13-1 pounding of the Stars. Jesus Sanchez (5.35) threw the final 2 innings for the Stars, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits and a walk.......In Sacramento, Josh Outman (3.21) threw 5 solid innings, and allowed just 1 UNearned run on 2 hits and 3 walks, in a game won by the Rover Cats, 4-3 with a run in the 9th inning. Adrian Cardenas ran for Kevin Kouzmanoff and scored the game winner............In Tacoma, the Rainiers beat the 51s, 4-2. Kevin Howard (.300) had 2 hits for Las Vegas...........In Rochester, Buffalo got to Andy Baldwin for 5 runs (4 earned) on 8 hits over 6 innings on their way to a 9-6 win. Andy is 5-9, 5.81 and has been losing effectiveness lately.
