Hyatt wiffs 9, drives in 2!

Austin Hyatt won his 4th game of the season Friday night in Harrisburg, besting the Senators 7-4. Hyatt allowed 3 runs in the first inning, but then slammed the door, throwing 6 innings overall and giving up just 2 hits and a walk the rest of the way. He struck out 9, and also had 2 hits and 2 RBI, participating in the offensive comeback! B.J. Rosenberg tossed 2 scoreless innings of relief, and Phillippe Aumont gave up a run on 3 hits in the 9th.

All 7 of the RBI came form the bottom of the line up, with Derrick Mitchell getting the only other 2-hit game, and Tuffy Gosewisch driving in 2 with a 2-out double. Reading (17-10) remains in a first place tie with New Hampshire, who also won.

Clearwater ran into some hot Dunedin pitching, gathering just 5 hits on the night, 2 by Cesar Hernandez. Hernandez, who will not be 21-years old until later this month, is hitting just .190 with the Threshers, but is 6 for his last 16 and showing some encouraging signs. Trevor May started for Clearwater and was very good. May allowed only 1 hit, walking 3 and striking out 9 in just 5 innings of work. There is nothing wrong with his stuff, but he has to find some consistency. Ebelin Lugo struck out the side in his inning of work, but Derrick Loop allowed 2 runs in 2 innings and that was enough for a 2-1 Dunedin decision.

The Charleston River Dogs let out the frustration of losing 5 of 6 to the BlueClaws with a resounding 12-6 win in South Carolina Friday night. By the time the 3rd inning was over, Mario Hollands and Hector Neris- who have both been very good so far this season- had allowed 11 runs and the BlueClaws were never close. Even Chase Johnson gave up a run, the first earned run he has allowed in 15 innings of work with Lakewood. There was an encouraging 8th inning pitched by Jay Johnson. Johnson struck out all 3 hitters he faced, and has bounced back from a very shaky first appearance to 2 very good ones.

Alan Schoenberger has arrived hot from Clearwater, and had 2 hits and a walk, and scored 3 times for Lakewood. Alan is 5 for 11 (.455), with 3 walks (.571 OBP) in 4 games since he got here. Geancarlo Mendez (single, triple, walk, RBI, run) and Jim Murphy (single, double, 2 RBI for team leading 19) also had multi-hit games.
