On Monday, the Phillies promoted Jeremy Barnes from Lakewood to Clearwater, a long overdue move in my opinion. Alan Schoenberger has rejoined the 'Claws from the Threshers. Also leaving Clearwater was Domonic Brown, who will continue his rehab at Lehigh Valley. Technically, Brown was activated and optioned. In addition to these moves, Jeremy Slayden has been released from Reading.
Speaking of Reading, the R-Phils winning streak was ended on Monday, as the team took a 5-0 loss at the hands of New Hampshire. Mike Spidale had 4 hits and a stolen base for Reading, and Anthony Gose was 1 for 5 and stole base #9 for New Hampshire. Barnes, arriving just a few hours before gametime in Clearwater, had 2 hits and drove in 2 runs for the Threshers in their 3-0 win over Tampa. Julio Rodriguez threw 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball, improving to 4-0 for the year, and Brian Gump, Jiwan James, and Sebatian Valle all added 2 hits apiece for Clearwater. Brown was 1 for 5 in his first game for Lehigh Valley, a 6-4, 10 inning defeat to Buffalo. Chance Chapman was the losing pitcher, giving up the game winning 2-run home run to Buffalo's Russ Adams.
Greg Golson had 2 hits and drove in 2 runs for Scranton, in the Yankees' 3-1 win over Gwinnett, and Jonathan Villar had a single and a walk, and stole his 12th base of the year for Lancaster, in the JetHawks 4-3 loss to Rancho Cucamonga.
