Hamels debut one to forget

Cole Hamels made his season debut in Denver yesterday, and if you weren't home early enough to see it, consider yourself lucky. The Rockies belted Cole for 7 runs on 11 hits, including a third inning home run by Garrett Atkins en route to a 10-3 win. J.A. Happ came in to relieve Cole and recorded 7 outs, allowing just 1 hit and striking out 1. Ryan Howard was 0 for 4 and Carlos Ruiz was 0 for 2 and left the game with a strained right oblique injury. While he is listed as day-to-day, the Phillies will decide if need to go on the DL Saturday. As a precaution, Lou Marson was scratched from Lehigh Valley's line up just before game time in Allentown and was flown to Denver to be available if needed.

The Cardinals beat the Astros 5-3 on Friday, Michael Bourn was 1 for 4 for Houston and is hitting .313 in the first 4 games.

With the untimely death of Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart late Wednesday night, and the resulting cancellation of Thursday's Angels-Athletics game, Josh Outman had his season debut pushed back to today at 4:00 against Seattle.
