Alfredo Simon recorded just 4 outs yesterday, giving up 3 solo home runs to the Texas Rangers before leaving the game with soreness in his right(pitching) elbow. Simon will return to Baltimore today to see team doctors, and determine if he will need to go on the DL.
Tyler Cloyd pitched a complete game, which turned out to be 6 innings, and the BlueClaws evened their record at 3-3 with a 10-3, rain-shortend victory over Lake County. Cloyd gave up just 4 hits and 2 walks, while striking out 5. Lou Collier's bat continues hot, a double, a triple, 2 walks, 3 runs scored, 2 RBI, and stolen base #3 -(and a partridge in a pear tree!). James Murphy (.467) had another 3 hit game, and walked, scoring twice.
The BlueClaws will look to make it 3 in a row tonight with Jason Knapp (0-1) against the Lake County Captains at Classic Park .
Last night, in Lynchburg, Virginia, the hometown Hillcats defeated the Winston-Salem Dash, 7-4. Mike Dubee was the losing pitcher for the Dash, giving up 2 runs on 3 hits in his inning of work. In Missouri, the Springfield Cardinals beat the Midland Rockhounds, 8-7. Adrian Cardenas had 2 more hits for Midland, drove in his 5th run of the year, and is hitting .308 for the Oakland affiliate. In Nashville, Oklahoma City pounded the Sounds, 12-6. Greg Golson had 2 hits for the RedHawks, and he is hitting .333 so far. In Colorado Springs, the SkySox defeated the Reno Aces, 7-2. Chris Roberson was 0 for 2 for Reno, and is off to a 1 for 10 start. In Sacramento, the River Cats beat the Portland Beavers, 4-2. Kevin Howard (.333) had a walk in 4 plate appearances for Portland.
