Matt Maloney pitched another good game in Toledo last night, 6 innings, 1 run on just 5 hits, NO walks and 7 Ks. He left the game with a 4-1 advantage, but the Louisville bullpen gave up 1 in the 8th, 2 in the 9th and 1 more in the 10th, giving the Mudhens a 5-4 win. Matt's numbers are 2-0, 1.86 so far for Louisville.
Randy Ruiz was 1 for 5, and drove in 2 more runs (that's 19) in Las Vegas' 12-3 win over Fresno. Randy is now hitting .333.
In Tennessee, Brian Schlitter got the final 4 outs for the Smokies in their 9-2 loss to the Diamond Jacks. Brian did give up a home run, but has 2 saves in 6 appearances covering 7 innings of work for Tennessee.
In Toronto, Gavin Floyd suffered through his first sub-par outing last night against the Jays. Gavin lasted just 4.1 innings, while the red hot Jays got 6 runs, 5 earned, on 9 hits and 5 walks, en route to a 14-0 trouncing of the White Sox. Gavin also threw 2 wild pitches, and saw his record fall to 2-2, 5.79.
Jason Jaramillo had a single, a double and a walk in San Diego last night, but the Pirates lost to the Padres, 4-3 in 11 innings. JJ is off to a 6 for 18 (.333) start, with 2 doubles, and RBI and a stolen base! In Houston, the Astros were held to just 5 hits, but Michael Bourn had 2 of them, scoring a run and stealing a base (#4) in the Brewers' 5-2 victory. In Phoenix, the Diamondbacks lost 5-1 to the Giants, Bobby Korecky pitched a scoreless 8th inning for Arizona.
Finally, in Miami, the Phillies put up a 7-run 9th inning to steal a 7-3 win from the Marlins. Shane Victorino hit a grand slam in the big inning. Ryan Howard (.271)was 1 for 5 and Lou Marson was 1 for 3 with a walk and a run scored.
