The Lehigh Valley IronPigs exploded for 13 runs on 18 hits Friday night against Pawtucket to post a 13-3 win. John Mayberry (.267, 2 doubles, 4 RBI), Pablo Ozuna (.315) and Jason Donald (.274, 2 doubles, 2 runs, RBI) all had 3 hits for Lehigh Valley. The IronPigs are now 6-8 on the year. Kyle Kendrick (1-1) will pitch tonight.
In Reading, Michael Stutes continues to wow them, throwing 6 more shut out innings against Bowie Friday night to improve to 3-0, 1.59 on the year. Ozzie Chavez had 4 hits for the R-Phils, and Tuffy Gosewisch had 2, including his first home run of the year. Michael Taylor (4), Mike Spidale (1) and Quintin Berry (6) all stole bases for Reading. Reading has won 6 of 7, and is 9-4 on the year. Antonio Bastardo will make his first start of the year tonight.
The Tampa Yankees roughed up Clearwater and Julian Sampson last night, winning 6-1. Sampson went 6, allowing 5 runs on 8 hits and 2 walks, striking out2 to fall to 0-3, 8.79 on the year. Mike Zagurski threw another scoreless inning for the Threshers (3 in a row, now), before Dan Brauer gave up 1 run on 3 hits in the 8th. Dan has really had a hard time so far, with his ERA at 11.57. Fidel Hernandez (.321) had 2 hits, starting another hitting streak after having one end Thursday.
