Josh Outman made his 2009 debut on Saturday in Oakland and started off well enough. Josh tossed 3 shut out frames against the Mariners while his team staked him to a 3-0 lead. Then Russell Branyan went deep off of him in the 4th, and in the 5th, he managed just 1 more out before being pulled. In all, 4.1 IP 3 runs, 6 hits, 2 walks, 3 strike outs. He threw 75 pitches, 44 strikes. Josh is scheduled to pitch again on Friday in Toronto.
In Denver Saturday, Ryan Howard was 2 for 4, including a 3-RBI double in the 3rd inning, as the Phillies beat the Rockies, 8-4. Ryno also walked and scored a run, as the Phillies improved to 2-3 on the year.
