OK, I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays safely, so lets look back on Sunday.
In Lakewood, Jesus Sanchez could not get out of the first inning, walking the first 3 hitters, throwing a wild pitch and hitting a batter. The 1 hit he gave up drove in 2 runs. He did strike out 2 of the last 3 hitters he faced. Although Travis D'Arnaud's 2 run homer in the bottom of the first drew the 'Claws to 3-2, it went downhill from there, the Shorebirds winning, 14-5. Justin De Fratus, Esmelvin Jimenez, and Ryan Ariail all surrendered runs. Jesus Villegas had 2 more hits and an RBI for Lakewood.
In Allentown, Scranton completed the sweep of Lehigh Valley with a 14-4 pounding of the IronPigs. Let me just say I am glad no HomeSiders pitched in that one. Jason Donald had 2 doubles, scored a run and is hitting .333 so far.
In Denver, the Phillies scored 2 in the 8th and 2 in the 9th to come from behind and beat the Rockies, 7-5. Ryan Howard had 2 singles, a double and scored a run, as Philadelphia evened their record at 3-3. Michael Bourn had a single in 3 at bats in Houston's 3-0 loss to St.Louis.
In Fresno, Kevin Howard was 1 for 3,with a run scored and an RBI in Portland's 5-4 loss to the Grizzlies. Chris Roberson was also 1 for 3 for Reno, as the Aces lost to Salt Lake, 5-4. In Springfield, MO, the Midland Rockhounds took an 8-7 decision from the Cardinals, Adrian Cardenas had an RBI double for Midland.
