Baldwin sparkles


Andy Baldwin got the assignment for Tacoma last night against Salt Lake and threw 6 strong innings. He gave up just 1 run, on 2 hits and a walk, striking out 7 and lowering his ERA to 1.72. Tacoma rallied for 3 in the 8th inning to win, 4-2. Baldwin (pictured) has thrown 15.2 innings in his 3 starts so far.
In Portland, the Beavers took a 3-0 decision from Sacramento. Gio Gonzalez started for Sacramento and was strong through 4.2 innings. 3 hits, 1 walk, 8 strike outs, left the game scoreless, and saw his ERA fall to 1.54. Kevin Howard had a double and a walk for Portland.
In Las Vegas, the Fresno Grizzlies beat the 51s, 6-3. Randy Ruiz had a single and scored a run in the game. Over in Reno, Chris Roberson had 2 singles, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI to help the Aces beat Colorado Springs, 8-5. Chris is 7 for 16 (.438) the last 4 games to raise his average to .294. Over in Oklahoma City, Greg Golson (.356) had 2 hits, scored a run and picked up RBI #9, as the RedHawks defeated Omaha, 5-4.
Down in Bakersfield, Scott Mitchinson made the start for Stockton against the Blaze. Scott went 5 innings for the Oakland affiliate, giving up 3 runs on 9 hits and 1 walk, striking out 4. Bakersfield scored 3 in the 7th to take a 6-5 win. In San Antonio, Adrian Cardenas (.364) was 2 for 5, including a double and an RBI in Midland's 9-3 win over the Missions. In Kinston, Mike Dubee tossed 2 scoreless innings for the Lynchburg Hillcats in their 11-7 win over the Indians.
