Vance Worley pitched a complete game (his first in the majors), allowing just 2 runs on 3 hits and 1 walk, striking out 5 to improve to 7-1, 2.02 on the season. Worley's emergence as the real deal will leave the Phillies with an interesting dilemma when Roy Oswalt and Joe Blanton both return to the team! Ryan Howard had a double and home run #20, driving in 2 more for a total of 77. It was 1 of 4 long balls by Philadelphia, who took the opener of the NLCS rematch, 7-2.
The win for Worley was #64 for the HomeSide.
In St. Louis, Michael Bourn (.302) had a single, a double, a walk, stole his 38th base, and scored the Houston's only run in their 3-1 loss to the Cardinals. Bourn is on an 11-game hitting streak, including 6 for his last 14.
