In St Louis, Michael Bourn (.304) extended his hitting streak to 12 games with 2 hits for Houston, and then walked and scored a run in the 9th inning game-winning rally. Bourn also had a runner thrown out at home, but Houston catcher Carlos Corporan dropped the throw. Michael has reached base in 10 of his last 20 plate appearances (8 hits, 2 walks), and is hitting .411 (23 for 56) during the streak!
In Philadelphia, Matt Cain was just a bit better than Cole Hamels, and the Giants took a 2-1 victory to even their series with the Phillies at a game each. Hamels (12-6, 2.61) went 7.2 innings, and allowed 2 runs on 6 hits and 1 walk, and struck out 6. Cain was just a little better, giving Philadelphia just 1 UNeraned run on 4 hits and 1 walk over 7. Domonic Brown (.251) had 1 of the 4 hits, and Antonio Bastardo (1.38) threw a 1-2-3 9th inning.
In Toronto, Alfredo Simon (2-4) went 5 innings for Baltimore and gave up 3 runs on 7 hits and 3 walks, striking out 7 and losing, 3-0 to Ricky Romero and the Jays.
And a big thumbs up for Ervin Santana, throwing a no-hitter for the Angels against the Indians Wednesday afternoon.
